Dr. Narcisa Ianopol, MD, PhD

Founder, President & Primary Investigator of RetinaTECH Innovations

My career, spanning over 30 years in ophthalmology and medical research across Europe and the USA, has been dedicated to translating fundamental scientific insights into impactful clinical solutions. My expertise uniquely positions me to bridge the gap between preclinical discovery and patient care, and my contributions to vision science have been recognized for extraordinary abilities in medical research.

I am a consultant surgeon ophthalmologist and senior clinical researcher with extensive trainings and practice in Romania, Germany, United Kingdom and United States of America. After completing my residency and research fellowship in Romania, I advanced my surgical and clinical skills through research and retina fellowships in Germany with Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schrader and Prof. Dr. Bernd Kirchhof, and in the United States with Prof. Dr. Dante Pieramici and Prof. Baruch Kuppermann. Prof. Dr. Schrader has certified my high surgical skills. Prof. Dr. Kirchhof notes my "commitment and clinical excellence" and that I was "extremely skilled in the surgery and medical retinology of diabetic retinopathy," pioneering the introduction of VEGF-blocker medication into Romanian ophthalmology. Dr. Pieramici has described me as a "very dedicated physician" who is a "pioneer in her country with the use of Avastin."

My research is characterized by a drive for innovation and a focus on solving critical clinical problems. My extensive background includes pioneering work on free radicals in ophthalmology and developing the proprietary SITE-App software 2025 (patent pending). Since 2007, this software has enabled the accurate, non-invasive quantification of retinal lesions in live patients and animal models, a capability vital for monitoring retinal diseases leading to blindness like age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinitis pigmentosa, etc. I also maintain a portfolio of patented and proprietary methodologies that represent significant advancements in in vivo research and clinical applications.

I am committed to collaborative research that advances patient care. I have had the privilege of working with leading experts in the field and am honored to collaborate on research with Professor Dr. Mitul Mehta and Dr. Sean D. Adrean, renowned retina experts in the USA with whom I work on various research projects in human retina clinics.

Dr. Mehta has described my novel research ideas as "groundbreaking" and "vital to the management of some of the most important causes of blindness." Dr. Adrean has expressed strong support for my research, noting my "innovative approach" and that my methodologies offer a "level of precision and insight not widely available." My demonstrated ability to drive innovative research from conception to rigorous execution, coupled with my extensive clinical background, ensures the successful implementation and broad impact of this pioneering work.
